Infallible Lip Gloss

Glamorous Barbie | Wednesday, 22 October 2008

200Here’s the next thing I want to try: Infallible Lip Gloss by L’oreal. It promises great things: 6 hour color, hydration, and a smooth, even application. And did I mention the 16 shades? At least 3 of which are contenders for that ever elusive “perfect pink”? Yeah, I’ll be buying some of this as soon as I can.

P.S. Dear Major Make-up Companies: you would sell so many more full size products to me if you would offer sample sizes first like the little guys do. Just Sayin’

Canopy

House Proud Barbie | Tuesday, 21 October 2008

logoSo, in the magazines I have been reading, I keep seeing ads for Canopy brand products. And these are nice looking products: thick towels, high threads count sheets, wood furniture, fancy pants dishes, etc. I finally decided to check them out at Canopy Living and expected a store. You know, with a cart and payment options and, you know, the ability to buy the stuff. Umm, no. Instead, I found a link to “find a store”. Canopy products are available only at Wal-Mart and walmart.com. I’m at Wal-mart like 18 times a week, how did I miss that?

Squalane Skin Care Products

Middle Aged Barbie | Monday, 20 October 2008

prod squalaneMake up in the morning, skin care at night. It’s a glam glam life here at want 2 be Barbie, but it sure beats doing dishes!

You know, there is no makeup under the sun that can really hide skin that isn’t taken care of. You just can’t let your face go and expect some miracle cover-up to make you look fab. And trust me, I have had periods of time where I refused to admit that was true. But now I know better. And I use good products on my face, because I only get one, and I want it too last a good long time, and then look great for three more days. (I’ll leave you a few minutes to ponder the meaning of that.)

Anyway, I saw the Squalane Products on Drlark.com and thought I would tell you about them. The products seem reasonable priced and you can have them auto shipped. The Ocean Actives contain squalane, an anti oxidant sebum from -get this- the livers of three species of Mediterranean sharks. I might be willing to try the stuff on my face, but harvesting it is one job I definitely don’t want. Might chip a nail doing that.

Free Samples at Everyday Minerals

Glamorous Barbie | Monday, 20 October 2008

show image in imgtag.phpI do love a free sample, don’t you? If you go to Everyday Minerals, you can get a free five product sample kit. You do have to pay shipping, but that was only $3.13 for me. The samples are generous, and come in the cutest little tubs! Mine came the other day, and they look and feel great. And you really can’t beat the price, right? When you go back to order full size products, you can get 6 for $34, which isn’t a bad deal, either.

Buy Shoes and Feel Great About It

Shoe Fetish Barbie | Tuesday, 14 October 2008

fa ffany spot5 1001Hey ladies! Do you ever feel guilty for spending a little too much on shoes? No? Me either. But just in case you feel guilty about not ever feeling guilty, which I admit I sometimes do, I thought I would let you know about a real good way to buy real expensive shoes for about half price AND contribute to breast cancer research at the same time. Just tune in to QVC tomorrow night at 7pm ET for the FFANY show and shop to your heart’s content. For a great cause, of course

Faboo Dweck Cuff

Glamorous Barbie | Monday, 13 October 2008

021308 stephendweck bI have had this cuff in my too be blogged pile for months now. I read about it in the April issue of InStyle magazine, and my eyes bugged out. The mag said it took over 240 hours to make it, plus 153 grams of gold, 260 sapphires, 12 diamonds, 7 green tourmalines, 4 amethysts, 2 iolites, and one each of 10 more stones. I just think it;s stunning, and I’d like a copy to fit my bubblegum machine budget, thank you very much! The original was sold at Bergdorf Goodman, and was so expensive the price was only available on request. I wonder if they made people submit a credit app and get it approved before they showed it.

TOMS Wrap Boot

Shoe Fetish Barbie | Wednesday, 08 October 2008

prod 249So, this is called a Wrap Boot. You slip the shoe part on your foot, and then you wrap the ace bandage thingie up around your leg, I guess. Now, you are going to have to be massively skilled to do that, or at least more coordinated than I am, but the concept is cool, right? And it also comes in red, which is my also-favorite-color (with pink) But here’s the really neat thing: every time you buy a pair of TOMS, they give a pair to a child in need. So, I can’t say these are necessarily the most attractive shoes ever, but their heart is in the right place. Also, maybe their prices are so high that you are actually buying two pairs of shoes, but whatever, it helps out someone who needs helping out, ok? OK. Go buy some.

Keeping those pearlies white

Middle Aged Barbie | Monday, 06 October 2008

whites sparkleMy teeth ahve never been exactly what one would call bright white. They’ve always had a bi of a yellowish cast to them, and as long as I was smoking, I didn’t mind too much. Now that I have quit, however, I am ready for my teeth to be white. Or at least as white as they can be, given genetics and my habitual coffee and tea drinking. But you know what happens to teeth as we get older, right? The get less white, and since mine weren’t actually white to begin with, I am fighting an uphill battle. That’s why I am willing to try different toothpastes to see if they help. I signed up today to get a free sample of Arm & Hammer Advance White, and thought you might be interested too. Not that your pearlies are less than bright white, of course, but only in the interest of getting free stuff.

So unfair!

So I was reading along in a magazine the other day and I came across this:

You’ll burn approximately 300 calories (a Snickers candy bar) per hour traveling on foot.

Hello? Whose idea was that? Because if you tell me I have to walk a slap solid HOUR to burn off a candy bar?? I may just cry. Or learn to live without candy bars. I am so not happy about knowing this little bit of trivia!

A Bold Wall

House Proud Barbie | Wednesday, 01 October 2008

IMG 1082I saw this in a book I read yesterday, and I just feel in love with it! I’d love to do a big bright wall like this. I saw a much more subdued version in a magazine once. All their plates were round, but some of them overlapped. Here’s how they did it.

~First, draw around your plates to create templates.
~Arrange them in a pleasing design. It’s great if there is some overlap, too.
~Tape the templates to the wall and draw around them in the positions the plates will occupy.
~Attach velcro to the back of the plates.
~Attach velcro to the wall for those plates that will be on the wall.
~Mount 1/2 inch thick blocks to the wall for plates that need to come up one level and 1 inch thick for those that need to come up 2 levels, and apply velcro to them.
~Hang the plates using the velcro.
