Are you still waiting?

Glamorous Barbie | Tuesday, 09 December 2008

Me, too! At least we’re together, right? The Barbie-est thing I have done lately is to go on a hike. With lip gloss in my pocket. And yes, I applied it on the trail. It was Avon’s Glazewear, for those of you keeping track of such things.

Vera Wang Bouquet

Glamorous Barbie | Thursday, 06 November 2008

P207306 hero Have you sniffed Vera Wang Bouquet? I found a sample in a magazine and I think I like it. The ad described it as “alluring, modern, romantic”, and I suppose I can agree with that, provided you think honeysuckle is alluring, roses are modern, and bergamot is romantic. It does warm up nicely on the skin. Personally, I do like the scent, but I would call it classic, not modern. And will someone please tell me why everyone thinks “modern” is a selling point? Do Coco Chanel’s designs ever go out of style? No, they do not. Classic is good, people. You can spend twice as much, because it will last ten times as long. D’uh.

The perfume is a little spendy, but then the good ones usually are. And when was the last time you actually ran out of a perfume? Yeah, see. A bottle lasts a lifetime, provided you store it properly.

Infallible Lip Gloss

Glamorous Barbie | Wednesday, 22 October 2008

200Here’s the next thing I want to try: Infallible Lip Gloss by L’oreal. It promises great things: 6 hour color, hydration, and a smooth, even application. And did I mention the 16 shades? At least 3 of which are contenders for that ever elusive “perfect pink”? Yeah, I’ll be buying some of this as soon as I can.

P.S. Dear Major Make-up Companies: you would sell so many more full size products to me if you would offer sample sizes first like the little guys do. Just Sayin’

Free Samples at Everyday Minerals

Glamorous Barbie | Monday, 20 October 2008

show image in imgtag.phpI do love a free sample, don’t you? If you go to Everyday Minerals, you can get a free five product sample kit. You do have to pay shipping, but that was only $3.13 for me. The samples are generous, and come in the cutest little tubs! Mine came the other day, and they look and feel great. And you really can’t beat the price, right? When you go back to order full size products, you can get 6 for $34, which isn’t a bad deal, either.

Faboo Dweck Cuff

Glamorous Barbie | Monday, 13 October 2008

021308 stephendweck bI have had this cuff in my too be blogged pile for months now. I read about it in the April issue of InStyle magazine, and my eyes bugged out. The mag said it took over 240 hours to make it, plus 153 grams of gold, 260 sapphires, 12 diamonds, 7 green tourmalines, 4 amethysts, 2 iolites, and one each of 10 more stones. I just think it;s stunning, and I’d like a copy to fit my bubblegum machine budget, thank you very much! The original was sold at Bergdorf Goodman, and was so expensive the price was only available on request. I wonder if they made people submit a credit app and get it approved before they showed it.

Dreaming by Tommy Hilfinger

Glamorous Barbie | Monday, 29 September 2008

main imgI tested the new Dreaming today, if by testing one can mean “ripped of the cover on the magazine sample that wasn’t even a wet pad, but only a scented spot on the page”, and I like it. The scent is warm and soft, but not too flowery. It’s not overly sexy, but very comforting, and I think it would be a good fragrance for every day use. The longer I left it open on my desk, the more I wanted it.

Haha, no surprise that I like this fragrance. After I smelled it and jotted my review notes, I went to the site to get a picture, and who’s staring at me but a Marilyn look alike? Yeah, I have a little Marilyn fixation. You can get over it. And now, I must truly have this perfume. The music isn’t bad either!

Organic Root Stimulator

Glamorous Barbie | Thursday, 18 September 2008

lock twistI have been trying different hair products for about 18 months now, and I think I may have finally found a long term keeper. While I was in Orlando, Marisa introduced me to Organic Root Stimulator Lock and Twist Gel. All jokes aside, and if you read my main blog, you know I have made some, this is some good stuff. BTW, Marisa is about to launch a beauty site, she says. And I say that when she does that, you need to get over there and read what she has to say, because in the glam department, that woman knows of what she speaks. I’ll update this post with a link, and give her a new shout out once she launches.

Aromaleigh

Glamorous Barbie | Thursday, 04 September 2008

This may be the most wonderful unknown make-up in the world. Of course, it’s not really unknown, since I know about it. I learned about it from a friend about a year ago, and I switched from traditional makeup to the Aromaleigh mineral makeup as soon as my little samples arrived. Her samples are generous, and the shipping is free on them.

Kristen regularly expands the line. The new high res finishing powder is totally da bomb. And so is the primer. And also, the lip balm. And…..

David Babaii for WildAid Hair Products

Glamorous Barbie | Friday, 15 August 2008

I was reading my new issue of InStyle today and saw an ad for David Babaii for WildAid. David’s products are touted as being great for your hair and great for the planet. No sulfates, no parabens, no animal testing and made of natural ingredients. Ten pecent of te profits are donated to WildAid to help endangered animals. You can check them out at db4wildaid.com. My only complaint is that the incredible overuse of Adobe Flash made it really hard to lift this picture. Which I did anyway, because it constitutes fair use. *Sniff of disdain*

Heavenly Soft Eyeshadows

Glamorous Barbie | Monday, 11 August 2008

I just love these eye shadows. The packaging, the palette, it’s all part of the appeal to me! I started with the pink and the blue, and then I had to order the rest of them. Can you see in the pictures how they are sparkly? Well, when they go on, they are not quite as sparkly as they look in the compact, and that’s fine. But as you brush them on, some of the sparkles actually land around the eye, and it really lights up that area of the face. Truly draws the attention to the eye area without an overwhelming LOOK AT ME effect. Truly glam, but also appropriate for everyday. I use an eyeshadow brush, and never the applicators that come with the shadows. Ever.
